Since 2002 "Roberta" takes girls and young women into the fascinating world of robots, where they can learn science, technology and math (STEM).
 
Now "Roberta" extens her range: in addition to build and program Robots. Students get the chance in the future Roberta courses to develop their own smartphone apps. The Foundation "Google.org supports the project with a total grant amount of $ 250,000.

On 3rd and 4th December the first Robo Dance Camp takes place at YES! educational establishment. 
 
In three different workshops:

• mobile robots
• choreography
• stage technology

you can learn how to program a robot "mobile robots", how to develop a show "choreography" and how to implement show effects "stage technology".
 

Robags is an exciting project initiated by the Fraunhofer Institute for Factory Operation and Automation IFF in Magdeburg. Students and their teacher can sign up and learn that technology is fun!
 
To help launch the newly formed joint venture, with a little luck, three LEGO Mindstorms robot kits can be won! Also you receive the support of the Robag scientists at the Fraunhofer IFF.

On the occasion of 150th anniversary of Japanese - German relations - President Christian Wulff has met  Roberta in Japan.
The presented Roberta model comes from the band "NXT-Geschöpfe aus einem Baukasten" and impressed President Wulff
obviously.
 
With support from the Fraunhofer Representative Office Japan, led by Dr. Lorenz Granrath, the German School Tokyo Yokohama (DSTY) 2010 could be inaugurated as the first Roberta school outside Europe.

There is something new to marvel at at the RobertaLab. We have developed an Android-App that enables you to command your Lego Mindstorms NXT robot by voice. You can setup up to four voice commands. Afterwards you can connect these voice commands to motor/move commands.

The software NXT-G simulates LEGO Mindstorms robots (of the NXT System). It enables the user to program a virtual robot with the usual programming languages (NXT-G code and NXC). The behavior of the real robot to be expected can be observed in real time on the monitor. The virtual robot's control has been adapted from the one of the real robot. 
 
The simulator is available for all certified Roberta Roberta-Teacher as a free download on the internal area of the portal to Roberta!
 
 

31.08.2010 - From now on the LEGO Mindstorms RCX Simulator - RobertaSim - is ready for download for all certified and registered Roberta Teachers on the internal pages of the Roberta portal.
 
 
RobertaSim can be used to simulate LEGO Mindstorms robots (of the Robotics Invention System 2.0 series). The software enables the user to program a virtual robot with the usual programming languages (RIS/RCX code and NQC). The behavior of the real robot to be expected can be observed in real time on the monitor. The virtual robot's operation has been adapted from the one of the real robot.

18.05.2010 - As a registered Roberta Teacher you are now able to download the CAD-File of "Jeffrey", a robot that is able to find his docking station to recharge its battery. At

(RobIAIS)-Youtube channel you can already see some videos of Jeffrey. The whole experiment will be available for free download until end of june for all registered Roberta Teachers.

Now you can buy the Roberta adhesive foils for Lego Mindstorms NXT (design by Garry Redrup and Ashley A. Green) at Technik LPE and coulourise your NXT the way you want. The foils are wipeable, heavy-duty and removable.

06.05. - 19.06.2010 - Especially for girls - Fraunhofer IAIS designed a robotic challenge called "Robot Performance". The Robot Performance is designed to get young girls interested in science and technolgies by constructing, programming (maximum two robots) LEGO Mindstorms robots. Additionally they have to create a perfromance or a story using their robots. Also the teams (8 to 10 members) have to inroduce the audience and teh judges which idea is behind their performance and how they have had programmed the robots and which problems aroused.
